Aid Stations
There will be aid stations serving water approximately every mile and aid stations serving water and electrolyte replacement drink approximately every two miles.
Awards and Medals
Each Half Marathon Run finisher will receive a commemorative custom finisher’s medal at the Finish Line.
Overall awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers for both Open and Age-Graded Masters (40+).
Age group awards, male and female, will be presented to the top three finishers in the following age categories; 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80+. (Open and Age-Graded Masters overall award winners will be excluded from the age group awards.)
Team awards will be given to the top three teams in each category: male, female, mixed, and masters (3 ages totally 120 years or more). Team time will be determined by scoring the top 3 times of each team (teams may have up to 5 members)
Course Information
Each mile will be marked.
Split times will be the responsibility of each runner.
The Five Trails Half Marathon route is public access and will be open to other exercise enthusiasts during the race. Please be respectful of their use.
Finish line support will close at 11:30 a.m. (16/mile pace)
Packet Pick Up
Packet pick up will be Saturday, May 19 at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade, Leavenworth. 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Packets will also be available for pick up on site race day beginning at 6:30 a.m.
Parking
Parking is available on site at Richard Warren Middle School, 3501 New Lawrence Road, Leavenworth, KS. The school parking lot is accessible by using the east entrance to the school entering from 10th Avenue.

"See KC Run" is the Official Photographer of the Five Trails Half Marathon 2012. The photographer will be on site prerace, on the course, and at the Finish Line. Photographs will be available on line and free to download. For additional information see www.SeeKCRun.com.
Pre-Race Information
Race day registration, bib number pick-up, volunteer check-in and information will be at Richard Warren Middle School, 3501 New Lawrence Road, beginning at 6:30 am on race day, Sunday, May
20, 2012.
Restrooms
Restrooms are available at the start line in the school building. Honey pots will also be on site and along the course. Convenience stores and other open businesses along the route have restrooms.
Risks
As with most sports, participating in a half marathon involves a number of inherent risks, including but not limited to tripping and falling, contact with other participants or spectators and the effects of weather, traffic and road conditions. Because the course is run on roads, there are possible potholes. Additionally, there may be other foot and bicycle traffic on the course. All participants need to be prepared to avoid obstacles and traffic. In submitting your entry, you are acknowledging your awareness and assumption of all risks associated with your participation. You are certifying that you are medically and physically fit to safely compete in this event.
Safety Rules
iPods may be used, but are not encouraged. For safety reasons, if a course official asks you to remove your listening device, please do so. Entrants choosing to violate these safety conditions pose a danger to all participants. Persons found in violation of these safety rules will be disqualified and removed from the course.

Spectators
Spectators can watch the entire race from location to location along the route. The 20th Street Traffic way offers multiple stopping points. The top of 20th Street between miles 3-4 offers spectators the opportunity to view runners climbing Leavenworth's Pike Peak. Miles 6-7 highlight historic residential homes in Leavenworth. Additionally, there are many locations along Eisenhower Road for spectators to park their vehicles and cheer the competitors. The finish includes a finale on the school track with plenty of area to cheer runners.
Teams
Runners may compete in the team competition. Each team must have a name and no more than 5 team members. Team members are registered by one person and the team captain is the sole voice for the team. The team score will be determined by adding the top three individual times of team members. Team competition categories are male, female, mixed and masters. ( A masters team requirement is 3 team members ages added together to equal 120 years or more.)
Weather
Come prepared for a variety of weather conditions. Average high temperature for
May 20 is 74 degrees and the average low is 54 degrees. May weather can be very unpredictable. There is always a chance of rain, wind and hot or cold temperatures.
